BetOnSports founders is facing jail time

2nd of April former CEO of Bet On Sports David Carruthers plead guilty after spent 33 months in house arrest in St Louis after he was caught in the fort worth international airport when making a transition to a flight towards his home in Costa Rica. David Carruthers had been held on the charges against him for racketeering and with the guilty plea he agreed to help the investigation towards the founder Gary Kaplan for a deal that set his maximum time in jail to 33 months. And now the Us attorney has struck a plea deal with the founder of BetonSports.
Gary Kaplan who founded BetOnSports in the mid 1990 will receive a sentence where he will have to spend 41 to 51 month in jail and pay 43.65 million dollars in fines. This according to a statement released by Michael Reap who is the appointed United States Attorney in this case. Gary Kaplan was arrested in the Dominican republic by the FBI in March 2007 and has been held in house arrest awaiting the investigations ongoing and to receive his sentence on the 20 different felony charges against him. Amongst the charges was charges for illegal gambling operations in both new York and Miami before BetOnSports opened up for business in Costa Rica.
The charges against Kaplan and Carruthers and BetOnSports are based from the Rico act where BetOnSports made it possible for US citizens to bet on sports through telephone violating the wire act. BetOnSports agreed to provide evidence as well as witnesses to the United states government against both Gary Kaplan as well as David Carruthers if the United States Attorney would agree not to prosecute any more of the BetOnSports executives.
