David Carruthers has had a change of heart

Oct 2, 2009

In April this year David Carruthers plead guilty on the charges of allowing US citizens gamble on Bet On Sports both via telephone and online where Carruthers was the CEO at the time. The plea came after a deal was set with the US attorney that would give Carruthers a maximum of 3 years in jail and was only possible if he gave information that could help to a conviction of other BetonSports employees, a sentence hw would have served since he has been under house arrest for the last 3 years in St Louise. David Carruthers was caught in Texas forth worth Airport when he and his wife was changing flights from United Kingdom to Costa Rica, However David Carruthers has had a change of hearts regarding his guilty plea.

David Carruthers was supposed to stand in front of a judge Friday the 2nd of November to receive his sentence of a maximum punishment of 3 years. But he has changed his mind and decided to withdraw his guilty plea. The reason of why David Carruthers has decided to withdraw the plea is unclear at the moment.

When David Carruthers decided to plea guilty on the charges he gave out enough information to the US attorney to be able to press charges on the founder of BetonSports Gary Kaplan. Gary Kaplan has also plead guilty to charges against the RICO act also regarding taking on bets from us Citizens and he is facing a sentence of 41 to 51 months in jail and a fine of 43.65 million US Dollars. Gary Kaplan was arrested in the Dominican Republic by the FBI in 2007 and has spent over 20 months in house arrest. Gary Kaplan has not changed his guilty plea.
