Online gambling bill passed

Aug 2, 2010

A great day it was for the online gambling industry when the Barney Frank’s Online Gambling Bill was passed on Thursday. Barney Frank have been battling the senate for more than 4 years now to get some kind of direction and decision to get online gambling legalised within the borders of the Unites States of America. On Thursday it became clear that the senate is moving towards the right direction by approving the bill to legalise online gambling and casinos in the USA. By this, it means that certain online gambling deposits have also been affected and this will have a positive effect on the industry.

Online Casinos have always been surrounded by controversy, and the last couple of years have definitely not been different. By Frank fighting in what he believes in, it has become clear that sanity definitely will prevail in the next couple of years. With the bill being passed to a sounding majority of 2-1 majority it has been a massive turnaround from the 1-6 majorities the previous voting session.  There were some serious amendments made to this bill which was welcomed by the majority of the people involved.

Some 14 changes were addressed in the bill and they included that the minimum age to participate in online gambling be increased from 18 to 21 and that credit cards be blocked in totality when trying to perform an online deposit with an online casino. By implementing these changes, the senate and the powers that be, can feel at ease when legalising online gambling within the US borders. The passing of the bill will have a major effect in the state coffers and we are delighted that they have seen the benefit of legalising the industry.

Gambling deposit methods like credit cards and e- wallets and in particular Neteller would be very delighted in the passing of the bill. Neteller was negatively influenced when the first bill was passed and we can clearly remember their directors being prosecuted in the US. Hopefully now, player and operators can come to a market where it is open and free to gamble and to entertain one another. A door has been opened and now it is only a matter of time before the US doors will open for operators and players. Good times are ahead!
