Phil Ivey at the final table in WSOP main event
Jul 17, 2009
During the past two weeks the World Series of Poker main event has been played and the starting field has been brought down from 6494 to the final table that will consist of just nine players. The last leg of the tournament started at 12 local time yesterday and the players played for 11 hours before the final nine was decided. Amongst the players one true superstar in the poker world Phil Ivey is still in the running win the bracelet and to become the title holder as the best poker player in the world in 2009.
The World Series of Poker main event or event nr 57 will take a break and continue the 7th of November. This is something that the WSOP introduced last year and that’s why the last nine players are being called the November nine. The Americans are dominating the final table and just two players from outside the Unites States has gone through, one player from France and one player from England. The two none American players are the players with the least amount of chips to bring to the final table.
The biggest surprise of the table is probably the chip leader Darvin Moon, he began to play poker just 3 years ago and is not used to this level of play. He won his seat in a 130 dollar satellite from a local casino. Those 130 dollars will have been accumulated to at least 1,263,602 dollars but he is in a good position to bring that sum up to the grand prize of 8,546,435 dollars and the possibility to say that he is the world’s best tournament player of 2009.
Chip count for the final table
