Poker rooms have trouble with eCheck payments

Jun 9, 2009

Full Tilt Poker announced last week that they have experienced trouble with payments through the payment option eCheck. Their statement was that they were experiencing temporary issues with their eCheck system, but the truth has unraveled and it’s a bit larger problem than a the temporary unavailability that has been reported from Full Tilt. The problem only extends to American customers and not only on Full Tilt Poker, Pokerstars has also experienced the same problems with all their payments through the payment option.

The reason for the temporary unavailability is not just as easy as that, the Unites States attorney in New York has shut down the computer making all payments related to Pokerstars and Full Tilt poker on the base of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act. With the shutdown of the server all funds has been frozen for the players using the eCheck system and sadly many players has experienced bounced checks and inability to reach the money on their accounts.

Pokerstars and Full Tilt went to separate ways in communicating the problem to their players. While Full Tilt Poker told their customers that it is a temporary problem and it will be fixed soon Pokerstars was straight forward to their customers telling them the truth about the shutdown of the server and the frozen funds. There are several more poker rooms operating outside the US that still accept players such as Bodog, Doyles Room and Absolute Poker but none of them has yet experienced the problem with any closed servers.
