Canceled or reviewed bet

Jun 25th 2009

Wimbledon has been startled by a new scandal involving bets that has been placed on the outcome of a tennis match. Just a few months back Gambling Deposits reported the same kind of situation in a football game between two teams playing in the Coca- Cola champions, Accrington Stanly and Bury. There a lots of players that place their bets on these activities so the question that needs an answer is what happens to the bets that have been placed on a fixed game or what happens if a bet is canceled.

The Tennis match in question is the game between Jurgen Melzer and Wayne Odesnik who are number 30 and 109 on the world ranking. Bets where placed for a sum over €350 000 only at Betfair and usually a match of this low ranking gets around €20 000 in bets. Odesnik was injured and it was clear to see that he was struggling to keep up with the tactical play that Melzer played against him. Since it is such huge difference in the placed bets the Tennis Integrity Unit suspects that information regarding Odesniks injury might have leaked out in to the public and creating an unfair situation to the people participating in the betting

If a bet is subjected to a review or if a bet is canceled most of the sportsbooks will repay the money that has been put down on the odds as long as the bet itself hasn’t raised any  suspicions. All the information regarding void and canceled bets can be found in the sportsbook of the players choice or if the player contacts the customer support where he or she usually plays they can answer what will happen in the particular case that the player might be involved in.
